As someone who is a radio listener - I often find it hard to explain to someone who isn’t a radio listener exactly why hearing your favourite song on a CD, an ipod, YouTube, or whatever is not quite the same thing as hearing your favourite song on the radio. I think it’s just the whole thrill of knowing that hundreds or thousands of other people are also hearing that song on the same station at the same time (or close to it, if you’re listening on the internet).
